
Starlings have a number of calls, but their full song is a complex and structured mix of whistles, clicks, and chattering that can last over a minute. Apparently, they're masters of circular breathing.
This image was several bits of luck - or chance. The weather was warm and very hazy, and by late afternoon the western sky was this shining gold. By chance, I noticed this silhouette framed in the gap between two neighbouring houses. And I was playing with some software for aligning and combining multiple exposures, which led to this result.
