Feeding Time (take 2)

Posted by
Spike (not Bristol, United Kingdom) on 20 May 2010 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio.

Same bird as yesterday's photo, but caught on a different run to the nest. It has a more static feel to it, I think, but at least it has the bird's tail in it.

Tech stuff: processed using HDR Photostudio's tone-mapper, which is aimed at producing realistic-looking results. I think it's done OK here, all things considered...

Thanks for stopping to take a look.

Great detail, an admirable capture - maybe pushed the shadows a tad far though?

@digitalCG: Definitely. Given the light on that occasion, I was pretty much out of options. By the next day, the kids seemed to have left the nest, so I'll have to wait for the next brood - about a month, I guess - to get another chance at that sort of shot. I've got an old GN 32 flash that works manually with my camera, and the distance is right, so I'll maybe give that a go. That, and find a less painful way of supporting the camera. :-)
