Class Struggle

From the I never expected to see that department.

After twenty minutes of chasing grasshopper nymphs, I noticed this happening under some nearby blades of grass.

As far as I could tell, this little brown ant had drawn the short straw and got the job of disposing of the body of a would-be queen. No pomp and circumstance here, just a lot of pulling and pushing on whatever body parts happened to be convenient.

We'll come back to the deceased sometime in the future...

Interesting capture! I´m always amazed what giant things these small ants carry and pull throught the garden. I always struggle with the light /shutte speed on ants ;)
