In all its glory

Posted by
Spike (not Bristol, United Kingdom) on 29 October 2011 in Landscape & Rural.

I managed to get to the Arboretum just as it opened. The forecast was for fog in the Severn Vale, but clear and sunny up on the Cotswolds, so I was hoping there'd be a bit of autumn moodiness going on.

The sun won out, but there was quite a bit of steam rising from all the previous day's rainfall and a steady fall of droplets from the canopy.

So yeah, it was rather nice - the tree colours have really come on in the last week or so. And here is that tree - again - with morning light and just a hint of mist. The colour is a little subdued compared with some previous years, but still...

Thanks for stopping to take a look.

Oh beautiful, Spike! I have fallen in love with this tree and it's different moods throughout the season. I think I will be a bit sad when she finally loses all of her leaves for the winter. I love the colors here and how the sun is coming through, giving her a beautiful glow. I think this is one of those "Wishing Trees"!.
